Colleagues, The Faculty Association PAC desperately needs your contribution to prepare for the next Trustee elections in 2010. If you contribute just $20 a month, less than the cost of a weekly latté, you could help change the District. Please fill out the form and deliver it to a Faculty Association officer or representative as soon as possible. Through automatic withdrawal, the contribution is absolutely painless: it will come out of your paycheck automatically, and you will not even notice that it’s gone. But you will notice the effects. Remember the salary increases and retroactive paychecks that we received last summer? Those are the kinds of advantages that come from a strong Association. In the last election, the Association was able to help protect two faculty-friendly trustees from well financed challenges. Without their support, those increases would never have occurred. In the fall of 2010, three trustee seats will be up for election, and some trustees may choose not to seek re-election. The availability of open seats, without having to run against well funded, entrenched incumbents, will be a critical opportunity to elect a Board more sympathetic to faculty concerns, and more cooperative in educating our students. Without your contribution, we will not have enough money to take advantage of this opportunity, and may even lose traditionally faculty-friendly seats. To ensure that we are prepared for the election, we need your contributions. Remember, just $20 a month will make little difference to your wallet now, but it could make a huge difference in your future. Lee Haggerty
