A message from Lee Haggerty
Dear Colleagues:
The leadership of the South Orange County Community College District Faculty Association would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to the beginning of the Fall 2009 academic year and we hope that you have a very healthty, happy and productive semester.
For the past two (2) years, the Faculty Association has been working very hard protecting and improving your work conditions,, getting board of trustees electied who are faculty friendly and contract negotiations, improving salaries and benefits for our membership. In order for us to continue representing you and protecting your rights, we need for those of you who are not members of the Association to join right away and for those who are members, we ask that you make a greater commitment to the Association, by assisting us in strengthening our organization and improving working conditions within our district.
The next Board of Trustees election will be in 2010 and the negotiations for a new contract will commence early in that same year. The Association will begin organizing for the Board elections very soon, and we will need your assistance in helping us be victorious. Contributions are essential to a successful. campaign, and to that end, we are requesting financial assistance from you to the Association's Political Action Committee(PAC). A form will be sent to you that will permit you to make automatic payroll deductions.
Contract negotiations will begin very soon and you will be asked to complete an elecctronic survey, telling the Association's negotiating team what issues are important to you and what items you want the Association to negotiate on your behalf. Please complete this survey when received. It is very important that you participate in this survey process.
The Faculty Association is the sole collective bargaining agent for the faculty and is responsible for maintaining desirable work conditions, salaries and benefits. In order for us to serve you better, we need your contributions and time. Please contact your Representative Council member to find out what you can do to support your Faculty Association. Thank you in advance.
